Product Overview
Nimonic 80A is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy strengthened by the addition of titanium and aluminum. Developed in the 1940s, this wrought superalloy exhibits exceptional tensile and creep-rupture properties at temperatures up to 815°C (1500°F), combined with good corrosion and oxidation resistance . While largely superseded by Nimonic 90 and Inconel X-750 for many applications, Nimonic 80A remains the preferred choice for nuclear applications due to its low cobalt content .
Product Details
This age-hardened superalloy exhibits excellent ductility and can be readily formed using conventional methods. It demonstrates good corrosion and oxidation resistance in high-temperature environments, with a density of 8.19 g/cm³ and melting range of 1320-1365°C . Typical applications include gas turbine blades and rings, exhaust valves for internal combustion engines, die-casting inserts, and nuclear boiler tube supports .
