Precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy strengthened by titanium and aluminum additions.
Maintains high tensile and creep-rupture strength at operating temperatures up to 815°C (1500°F).
Offers low cobalt content, making it the specified material for nuclear reactor applications.
Available in multiple forms including bar, sheet, plate, wire, and forging stock
Nimonic 80A Nickel Alloy
Nimonic 80A is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy strengthened by the addition of titanium and aluminum. Developed in the 1940s, this wrought superalloy exhibits exceptional tensile and creep-rupture properties at temperatures up to 815°C (1500°F), combined with good corrosion and oxidation resistance . While largely superseded by Nimonic 90 and Inconel X-750 for many applications, Nimonic 80A remains the preferred choice for nuclear applications due to its low cobalt content .
